Bollywood star Govinda, aged 60, sustained a leg injury on the morning of October 1 when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged at his Mumbai home. The mishap occurred as he was preparing to leave for the airport to catch a flight to Kolkata. According to Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, the actor was placing the gun in a cupboard when the trigger was unintentionally pulled, causing the firearm to misfire and hit his leg(PINKVILLA).
Govinda was immediately rushed to Criti Care Hospital, where doctors successfully removed the bullet. The actor later released an audio statement to reassure his fans, saying, "With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now... I thank Dr. Agarwal and all of you for your prayers." Govinda is currently recuperating at home and is out of danger, according to Mumbai police(PINKVILLA).
The police have begun investigating the incident, though no official complaint has been filed. Govinda, who is well-known for his roles in iconic Bollywood films such as "Coolie No 1," "Hero No 1," "Dulhe Raja," "Saajan Chale Sasural," and "Partner," has been a significant figure in Indian cinema, with a career spanning over three decades and more than 165 Hindi-language films to his credit.
In recent years, Govinda made a return to politics, joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in March before the Lok Sabha elections, marking his re-entry after two decades away from the political scene. He previously won the 2004 election from the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency as a Congress candidate before stepping away from politics in 2008.
